For those of you who know Capt. Dave, here's an appropriate picture to open the 2010 Fishing Season.
The last outing of 2009 was closed out by loosing the windshield's left brace to the depths of Raccoon Lake. Allowing the left windshield to become out of square, noted by a 1/2 inch gap across the lower left portion of the assembly. One would think this is a simple part to replace, until contacting the manufacturer Taylor Marine Systems. They'd undergone many changes since the boat's manufacture in '99. Sometime between then and now, Taylor Marine lost the original bending jigs used to fabricate the part. After an exhaustive search led by customer service representative Robin Gordon, TaylorMade agreed to fabricate the part by hand using it's mirror (the remaining right brace) as a template. Capt. Dave not comfortable shipping the remaining part via commercial means, accepted Mr. Irwin's offer to drive the part to Gloversville, NY plant while he was in the upstate New York area for the '09 Thanksgiving Holiday. Two weeks later, both left and right braces were received safe and sound at Capt. Dave's residence.
Capt. Dave made arrangements with Greg Lighty of The Glass Doctor Danville Il, to repair the left windshield and install both left and right braces Friday April 9th 2010 at Reeder and Trausch Marine . The boat is also 4th in line for it's spring tune up -- part time help is working the service queue, more progress will be made once Larry returns from vacation April 10th.
Our first fishing excursion will be on or after April 15th. Situation updates will be posted as appropriate.
Here's to a Memorable 2010 Season !
-Capt Dave.
